  • National Science Foundation educational grant #2025682.
    • Investigated the efficacy of machine learning for malware detection and analysis.
  • Developed instructional modules for use in college-level courses and workshops.
    • Modules typically focused on a specific topic or concept.
    • Provided slide decks for each lab containing background information, along with a practical lab assignment.
    • Lab assignments consisted of an instructional write up and template code.
  • Supporting documentation was created using LibreOffice, an open source alternative to Microsoft Office.
    • Documentation provided with the GitHub repositories was written using Markdown.
  • Lab code was written using Python 3.
    • The LIEF, MalConv2, and SecML libraries were used to facilitate the implementation of complex analysis and machine learning concepts.
  • Oracle VirtualBox was used as the initial deployment environment to isolate host systems from potential infection by malware.
    • Labs were later reimplemented as individual Docker containers for increased portability.
